The Woman Strong

Cream & Tan to Grays

Not all neutrals are made alike. Or, maybe they are but they go in and out of style like the seasons (which in Indiana means a few times a week). I can remember a time when tans and browns were the ‘in’ colors for interior walls. With a few years of painting under my belt, I would have to declare our current time period the ‘Way More than 50 Shades of Grey’ era. Repose Gray, Dovetail, Amazing Gray, Mindful Gray…the variety of choices seem limitless. With varying light and depending on the adjacent color, gray can look blue or purple or green or black or white and sometimes even…gray. This project used two different grays, a darker one on the bottom half of the room below the chair rail (the name didn’t stick) and for the top: Sherwin Williams Repose Gray. My former principal (boss) said her niece had a fixer upper. Transforming an abode that housed a single, indoor cigar-smoking resident to a home fit for a family of 4+ sounded like fun! This dull room became the Mom of the House’s favorite spot for a morning coffee with a good read, which resonates with my heart. I went back later to tackle the porch, the dining room & the living room.
