The Woman Strong

My Vlog Thing

This was the conversation with my 12 year old daughter last night:

I now feel confident merging into my 2nd day of “vlogging.”

I will attempt to be witty, and maybe even intelligent or helpful at times, but I guarantee my success with honesty. So, I feel obligated to tell you the picture posted yesterday of the full sink of dishes may not have been Mother’s Day 2016. It may have been My Birthday 2016, or any other recent special day my children felt I was waking up with a hankering for pancakes & lots of clatter in the kitchen. Whenever the picture was taken, it was in reply to my friend asking how my special day was going.

I’m not a full-blown pessimist, I only become one in the name of funny. Of course I see the preciousness in these proud faces. If their efforts made even one request of, “Can you get the cereal box down?” go away, then it did its job. But I don’t wake up hungry & I want to avoid stuff I don’t like on ‘my day,’ like cleaning dishes. I know they don’t have a job, and, therefore, do this as an Act of Service. However, please allow me to provide this:

How to Make Mom Happy for Free with Minimal Effort!

  • Let the woman sleep. All sports-related & work alarms must be silenced along with all other morning noises. If a bird starts to tweet at 5 am, go outside and have a talk with it. If anyone vomits, she’s sorry it happened on this day, but please deal with it thoroughly. Even if it was her.  Especially if it was her. White Noise = Good
  • Provide a Chore-Free Day for this Chica. This is where that minimal effort comes in. The living quarters may or may not already be cleaned up. If she sees heaps of laundry or dishes, it hurts her soul. Home-made meals are much more enjoyable when there isn’t hell to pay with cleaning after the last swallow.
  • Be happy, be healthy, be positive.  For God’s sake, just get along. This may also require some effort, depending on what mood you woke up in on this particular day. Please grit your teeth and Don’t Step on Her Happy!

All other gestures, such as chocolate, massages, flowers, cards, etc. are going above and beyond and are appreciated, but just remember: Sleep, Clean, Happy

(Feel free to screen shot & print or just leave open on your phone for all passers-by to see.)
